Actress Kim Sae-ron found dead at home in Seoul

Kim Sae-ron, the South Korean actress known for her roles in The Man from Nowhere and The Neighbors, was found dead at her home in Seoul on Sunday, police confirmed. The 24-year-old’s unexpected passing has left the entertainment industry and her fans in shock as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Kim was discovered at her residence in Seongsu-dong, located in eastern Seoul, around 4:55 p.m. A friend, who had plans to meet her, became concerned after being unable to reach her and alerted authorities.

“We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet, but we are investigating the circumstances of the death,” a police official stated. Further details about the cause of her passing have not been released.

A career marked by early success and recent struggles

Kim Sae-ron rose to fame as a child actress, making a name for herself in the South Korean film industry with her breakthrough performance in The Man from Nowhere (2010), where she starred alongside Won Bin. Her critically acclaimed role in The Neighbors (2012) further cemented her status as one of the country’s most promising young talents.

As she transitioned into more mature roles, Kim continued to appear in various films and television dramas. However, her career faced a major setback in 2022 when she was caught driving under the influence. She crashed her car into a guardrail and a transformer, an incident that led to a fine of 20 million won (approximately $13,850). The scandal significantly impacted her public image and career trajectory.

Attempts to return to acting

Despite the controversy, Kim attempted to return to acting. Last April, she participated in a play in an effort to make a comeback. However, she withdrew from the production due to health issues, further delaying her return to the entertainment industry.

Her struggles in recent years had raised concerns among her fans and the industry, with many hoping she would successfully recover both personally and professionally.
